Visits to the Cemetery…
My grandfather was the fatherly figure in my life. As a kid, he made sure he traveled from Camden to Jersey City to pick up my sister and me for summer vacation. As we got older he was there. I moved towards him at 21. He was always there. I never asked him for anything but talks and time. He passed away in 2019… it was blindsiding because he was strong, 70, and owned a tow truck business. He worked up until his last breath. He passed away on his way to a tow job on a cold December night. I will never forget that day… I miss him every day. Yesterday I went to plant seeds, so he has flowers there at all times. I picked up a little around his stone and sat there with my boy Picasso so I wouldn’t be alone. It was nice and relaxing. I hugged his stone so tight. Like if it was him. I know he is with me in spirit. Spirit always lives on, but I always will miss his hugs, his laugh, his voice… and most of all… his smell… he smelled like cars and car grease. Anyway, felt like I wanted to give you guys a peek into my world.
