1st time in Africa

... Read moreAs a first-timer in Africa, my recent trip to Kenya has truly been an unforgettable whirlwind of culture, fashion, and delicious food! Arriving in Nairobi, my first stop was the incredible Nairobi National Museum. It was fascinating to delve into Kenya's history and heritage, and I was particularly captivated by the 'Queens of the Swahili Seas' exhibition. It offered such a unique perspective on the coastal history – definitely a must-see for anyone interested in East African culture. I always try to blend comfort with style when traveling, and for the museum visit, my pink checkered outfit paired with a denim jacket felt just right – easy to move around in but still chic for photos! Speaking of style, packing for Kenya can be a fun challenge. For city explorations in Nairobi, breathable fabrics are key. You'll want comfortable shoes for walking around museums and markets. If you're heading out for dinner, a stylish yet casual outfit like my checkered set works perfectly. Don't forget layers, as evenings can get cooler. Even for a safari, while practicality is paramount, you can still add personal touches to your outfit. And oh, the food! Kenyan cuisine has truly stolen my heart. One evening, I indulged in a mouth-watering platter of sizzling grilled meat, served with a fresh tomato and onion salad and fluffy white rice. It was absolutely divine and gave me a real taste of local flavors. I'd highly recommend trying 'Nyama Choma' (roasted meat) and 'Ugali' (a staple cornmeal dish) while you're here. Don't be afraid to try local eateries and markets; it's often where you find the most authentic and delicious experiences. Now, for the part I'm most excited about: the safari! I'm prepping for it tomorrow, and the anticipation is building. Based on my research and advice from locals, essential safari packing includes neutral-colored clothing (khakis, greens, browns) to blend in with nature, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and insect repellent. A good pair of binoculars is also a game-changer! And definitely bring a powerful camera to capture those incredible wildlife moments. I've been told to expect early mornings, dusty roads, and breathtaking encounters with incredible animals. I can't wait to share my safari adventures with you all soon! This trip has already been a dream, and I'm soaking up every single moment.
