Please stop interupting me 🙏🏻
It’s impossible to get lost in another world full of dragons, ancient secrets, burning romances, warring kingdoms, and dense magic systems when I’m barated by the constant nagging of a kid who wants a cup of choccy-milk, another who’s headphones broke, work messages on my day off, and my wife asking if I’ll go grocery shopping…
Reading a fantasy book should be a journey into another world—packed with dragons, ancient secrets, and captivating adventures. However, balancing family responsibilities and daily life often makes uninterrupted reading a luxury. I can relate to the frustration of only getting to read a page or two before being pulled away by a child seeking choccy-milk, broken headphones, or urgent work messages. From personal experience, carving out dedicated reading time requires clear communication and sometimes negotiation with family members. Setting specific hours where interruptions are minimized helps protect that precious escape into fantasy realms. Using headphones or finding a quiet nook can also signal that you're focused and not to be disturbed. Another helpful approach is to have a quick mental or written note of where you left off, so if you're interrupted, returning to the story can be seamless. While it's hard to completely eliminate distractions, creating boundaries around your reading time brings you closer to the uninterrupted immersion you crave. By sharing these challenges and solutions, I hope other fantasy book lovers can better enjoy their reading journeys despite the demands of daily life. Embracing moments of calm and making space for books can reignite your passion for fantasy and help you explore those magical worlds with fewer interruptions.
