From Cali to Washington state..

Hey fellow travelers! If you're anything like me, the open road calls to you, and there's no better call than an epic road trip from Washington State all the way down to California. I recently embarked on this incredible journey, and let me tell you, it was an absolute game-changer. Forget just getting from point A to point B; this trip was about soaking in every single mile of the diverse and stunning landscapes the West Coast has to offer. Planning was key, and I really recommend setting aside a good week or two if you want to truly enjoy it without feeling rushed. My first tip? Don't just stick to I-5! While fast, it skips so much of the beauty. I made sure to weave in some coastal routes and inland detours, especially through Oregon and Northern California. Imagine cruising along, and suddenly, through a break in the trees, you catch sight of a majestic snow-capped mountain peak towering over the landscape. It's moments like those that make the whole trip worthwhile. Speaking of views, the drive through the Pacific Northwest was particularly stunning. The green and blue mountains seemed to go on forever, and on a clear sky day, the visibility was incredible. I loved discovering charming small towns along the way, where I could grab a coffee, stretch my legs, and just take in the local vibe. Remember to pack layers, as the weather can change dramatically from the cool, misty north to the warmer, sunnier south, especially if you're crossing mountain passes. One of my favorite stretches was definitely the Oregon Coast – Highway 101 offers unparalleled ocean views, dramatic cliffs, and hidden beaches. Further south, as you hit Northern California, the redwood forests are an absolute must-see. Driving through those ancient giants felt like entering another world. And don't even get me started on the California coast itself! While parts of Highway 1 can be slow, the sheer beauty of Big Sur is something everyone should experience at least once. Just make sure your car is in good shape, as some of these roads can be winding! For accommodation, I mixed it up with some cozy motels, a few Airbnbs, and even a night or two camping under the stars. Booking ahead, especially during peak season, is always a good idea. And don't forget to curate an epic playlist! Good tunes make even the longest stretches fly by. This road trip wasn't just a drive; it was an adventure for the soul, showing me so much beauty and making countless memories.
