... Read moreReflecting on the phrase “By faith the law was given… and by the gift of His Son, a more excellent way,” I’ve found deep encouragement in how faith connects the Old Testament Law to the New Testament fulfillment through Christ. The Law, as given through Moses, was foundational—it established God’s standards and pointed people towards His holiness. But it was never meant to be an end in itself; rather, it was faith that sustained it and guided its purpose. When I first studied Ether 12:11, the verse from which this concept stems, I realized that faith is not simply belief but a dynamic trust that activates God’s promises. This faith was required to follow the Law faithfully, but it was ultimately fulfilled and surpassed in the gift of God's Son. Christ did not come to abolish the Law but to complete it by offering a living Redeemer who makes the way accessible to us all. In everyday life, this has meant to me that faith carries my story by providing hope and direction beyond legal obligations or moral checklists. It’s a reminder that God desires relationship and transformation, not just rule-keeping. The idea that “in Him, the way isn’t just commanded—it's opened, it's finished, it's yours” encourages me to approach faith with confidence and gratitude rather than fear or obligation. Sharing this encourages patience in our spiritual journey, trusting that faith began the story and will carry it through, even when the path seems unclear. For those exploring the significance of faith in both Old and New Testament contexts, pondering this connection offers a richer appreciation of God’s redemptive plan—where the Law points forward, but the Son draws near, inviting us into grace and a more excellent way.
