Woondal Restaurant and Grill 🍽️

Tried Woondal Restaurant and Grill in Northeast Philly and it was surprisingly really good!

It’s a small spot with a few parking spaces right outside. The butter chicken was one of the best I’ve had — I ordered it spicy and it had the perfect balance of sweetness and heat. It paired so well with the rice and garlic naan!

The only downside was the service. We went for lunch and were one of only two tables, but the food still took a while to come out.

I recently visited Woondal Restaurant & Grill in Northeast Philly and was impressed by the authentic flavors and cozy ambiance despite it being a small venue with limited parking. One standout dish was the butter chicken, which I ordered spicy. It delivered an excellent combination of sweetness and heat, perfectly complemented by fluffy rice and warm garlic naan. What made the experience memorable was not just the taste, but the way the spices were balanced — it felt like a home-cooked meal with attention to detail. I also noticed the chicken tikka puri on the menu, which seemed promising for future visits. The overall vibe of the restaurant was intimate and casual, making it a great spot for a relaxing lunch. However, there was a slight downside: the service was slower than expected considering there were only two tables during my lunch visit. While the food was well worth the wait, quicker service could enhance the dining experience. Despite this, I would recommend Woondal Restaurant & Grill for anyone craving flavorful Indian cuisine in Philly. If you’re exploring dining options in Northeast Philadelphia, definitely put Woondal on your list. The balance of spices in dishes like butter chicken and the fresh garlic naan alone makes the visit worthwhile. Plus, the affordable price point and closing time at 11 pm offer flexibility for dinner plans. For authentic, flavorful Indian food with a touch of homemade comfort, Woondal is a gem worth trying.
