Bible Study: John 1

Hey everyone! It's mind-blowing to think about Jesus's eternal existence and "Jesus's role in creation." All life, all light, flows from Him. And that light, my friends, shines in the darkness and the darkness can never overcome it. This truth alone brings so much comfort, knowing that whatever challenges we face, His light is always present. I love to use my purple highlights on these verses in my Bible to remind me of His divine power and origin. Moving on to "John 1:6-18," we meet "John's witness" – John the Baptist. He wasn't the light, but he came to testify about the Light, preparing the way for Jesus. It's a powerful lesson in humility and purpose. He pointed others to Jesus, proclaiming His coming. Even though Jesus came to His own people, not everyone recognized or received Him. But for those who did receive Him, He gave them the right to become children of God! This is where the idea of "christ is with me" really resonates. When we accept Jesus, He dwells within us, and we gain a new identity in Him. I often jot down in my margins how amazing it is that we can be adopted into God's family just by believing in His name. Then, John 1:29-34 reveals another incredibly significant title for Jesus: "the Lamb of God." This is a profound statement, linking Jesus to the sacrificial lambs of the Old Testament, but as the ultimate, perfect sacrifice who takes away the sin of the world. Imagine John the Baptist seeing Jesus and proclaiming this! It truly paints a picture of Jesus's mission and purpose. It's not just about acknowledging who He is, but what He did for us.
