Book Review: Assistant to the Villain

✨ Book Review ✨

Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

This book had me hooked from page one. Think The Office meets The Princess Bride with a dash of Monty Python—equal parts hilarious, heartfelt, and surprisingly sharp.

💖 I LOVED this story. The slow burn romance was perfectly paced (without ever dragging), and the side characters were just as unforgettable as the leads. The Villain may be terrifying to everyone else- but to me, he was the PERFECT MMC.

If you’re into:

📚 Funny, fantasy-filled worlds

📚 Found family vibes

📚 A romance you can’t stop rooting for

📚 A twist you’ll never see coming…

…then this one’s a must read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — and I’m already counting down the days until I get my hands on the sequel!

Read moreThe unique charm of Assistant to the Villain lies not only in its witty comparison to The Office and The Princess Bride but also in the way it masterfully balances humor and heartfelt moments. If you're a fan of fantasy romance, this book offers a richly imagined world with a captivating slow burn romance that never loses momentum. The intricate dynamics between the Villain and his assistant create a compelling connection that goes beyond the typical hero-villain trope. These supporting roles are more than just backdrops; they actively shape the protagonists' journey and the narrative's emotional impact. Moreover, the unexpected plot twists keep readers on their toes, ensuring a fresh reading experience that avoids predictability. The Villain, despite his fearsome reputation, turns out to be the perfect male main character (MMC) for readers who appreciate complexity and vulnerability underneath a tough exterior. Fans of Monty Python’s quirky humor will appreciate the subtle comedic undertones that lighten the story's darker elements without undermining their significance.
