Book Review: Midnight Ruin

✨ Mythology + romance = perfection ✨

I will never miss a chance to read a Greek Mythology retelling. From Percy Jackson, to Madaline Miller, I’ve read my fair share- and none of them have captured my heart quite like the Dark Olympus series by Katee Roberts.

Midnight Ruin swept me up in one of my absolute favorite Greek myths and gave it such a fresh, emotional spin. The dynamic between these characters is messy, heartfelt, and full of growth—and yes, I’m a total sucker for stories where they both love her.

This was such a strong installment in the Dark Olympus series—4/5 ⭐ from me. Katee Robert always manages to blend sizzling chemistry with real character development, and it keeps me coming back every time. Like I said- Greek mythology retellings are my kryptonite, and this one delivered exactly what I wanted. 🖤

... Read moreAs a massive fan of Greek mythology retellings, from classics like Madeline Miller to the more modern Percy Jackson, I honestly thought I'd seen it all. But then Katee Robert’s Dark Olympus series came into my life, and Midnight Ruin is truly a standout installment. If you're searching for a book that perfectly blends ancient myths with contemporary romance, this one is an absolute must-read. What truly sets Midnight Ruin apart, and what I loved digging into, is its unique take on a classic myth. Katee Robert doesn't shy away from complex character relationships and emotional depth. The plot is rich and engaging, weaving familiar elements with fresh, unexpected twists. For those who, like me, appreciate a good 'they both love her' trope, this book absolutely delivers. The dynamic between the characters is incredibly compelling – it’s messy, yes, but also full of genuine character development that keeps you rooting for them despite the complicated circumstances. Katee Robert has a remarkable talent for crafting stories filled with sizzling chemistry and intense banter, and Midnight Ruin is no exception. Beyond the romance, she masterfully explores themes of power, choice, and redemption within a vibrant, modern reimagining of Olympus. The smut is expertly woven into the narrative, enhancing the emotional connection and tension without overshadowing the story. It’s what makes her books so addictively readable – you get the heat you crave alongside a genuinely good story. My 4/5 rating truly reflects how much I enjoyed the journey and the satisfying conclusion. If you're already a fan of the Dark Olympus series, Midnight Ruin will not disappoint. And if you're new to Katee Robert's work or simply looking for your next captivating read, prepare to be swept away. This book is perfect for anyone who loves dark contemporary romance, mythological retellings, and stories with strong, complex characters. It’s definitely a standout in the series and one I’ll be thinking about for a long time.
