#letschat I am at a place in my life where I plan on a long term relationship. And if you’re NOT ready or looking for that PLEASE DON’T WASTE MY TIME!
I have had relationships with people (personal & business) that was what I thought on a long term path but ended up on a short term disability term. Really it should’ve been FMLA if I’m completely being honest with you. Then after I cut ties they want to try and come back around a second time.
Uhhhmmm excuse me but that’s a HARD NO for me. I don’t wear moonwalking shoes to stroll backwards.

... Read moreIt’s a question we’ve all pondered, right? 'Long Term Relationship Or short term?' What’s the actual difference, and how do you know what you're truly in? My own journey has taught me a lot, and if you’re anything like me, you’re past the point of wasting precious time. So, let’s dive into what really sets these two types of connections apart.
A short-term relationship, at its core, is often about the 'now.' It might be for fun, companionship, or even just to avoid being alone. The focus usually isn't on building a shared future, meeting families, or planning vacations months in advance. You might enjoy each other's company, share some laughs, and have a good time, but there's an unspoken understanding, or sometimes a very explicit one, that this isn't heading towards a 'forever' kind of commitment. It’s light, it’s spontaneous, and it serves a purpose for a specific period in your life. Think of it like a fun road trip – you enjoy the journey, but you know you’ll eventually reach your separate destinations.
On the flip side, a long-term relationship is built on a foundation of growth, shared goals, and a deep commitment to a future together. It’s about investing in someone, not just with your time, but with your emotions, your dreams, and your vulnerabilities. You're talking about combining lives, facing challenges as a team, and planning for what’s next – whether that’s moving in together, getting a pet, or even discussing marriage. The conversations are deeper, the trust is paramount, and there's a conscious effort to nurture the connection through thick and thin. It’s not always easy, but the satisfaction comes from building something meaningful and enduring.
The biggest difference, from my perspective, truly boils down to intention and investment. Are both parties willing to openly communicate their desires, and more importantly, are their actions matching those desires? I've learned that you can't force a short-term person into a long-term mindset, and vice versa. It’s not about judging one as better than the other, but about recognizing what you need and aligning with someone who wants the same.
For me, after navigating different dating landscapes, I realized my heart needed more than fleeting connections. I craved the depth, the security, and the shared vision that only a long-term partnership can offer. It’s about finding someone who values your time as much as you value theirs, someone who isn’t afraid to commit and build. So, if you're holding your yellow tumbler, contemplating your next step, just know that clarity on what you're looking for is your superpower. Don’t settle for less than what truly makes your heart feel at home, whether that's a cozy night in with a teddy bear or an 'Urbanique' adventure that lasts a lifetime.
