It’s funny how life comes full circle, isn’t it? Just yesterday, it feels like I was holding my little Scarlett Aurora in my arms, and now she’s navigating 6th grade! The other day, seeing her get ready for the hoco game, it really hit me how fast time flies. It’s exactly what I meant when I wrote that she’s 'only little for so long.' Each year brings new adventures, new challenges, and new glimpses of the amazing person she’s becoming. She truly is 'my little me.' Sometimes I see her stubbornness, her creativity, or even her dramatic flair, and I just have to smile because it’s a mirror image of myself at that age. Raising a child who is so much like you can be a unique experience. There are moments of pure joy and understanding, feeling like you’re reliving your own childhood through wiser eyes. But then there are also those moments where our similar personalities clash, and that’s where the 'challenge' part comes in! It’s all part of the beautiful chaos of parenthood. Sixth grade, specifically, has been a whole new chapter. There’s a newfound independence, a burgeoning social life, and a lot more homework! I remember when I saw the note about 'Nissa 6th Grade 2024-25' – that's our girl, diving headfirst into middle school life. We've been cheering her on at events, seeing her involvement, and just watching her grow. The 'hoco game' was a perfect example; seeing her excitement and how she’s finding her place among her friends, it fills my heart with a mix of pride and a little bit of wistfulness. It truly feels like she's growing up too fast, just like the hashtag says! One of the biggest lessons Scarlett Aurora has taught me is exactly what I wrote: 'it’s ok to have feelings on the outside.' She’s so open and expressive, and it reminds me to be more authentic in my own emotions. As parents, we often feel the need to be strong and put-together all the time, but seeing her embrace her vulnerability has been a beautiful blessing. It's okay to 'cling on' to these precious moments, because they truly are fleeting. They say the days are long but the years are short, and I feel that more keenly now than ever. I sometimes worry about what the future holds, especially with all the changes that come with middle school and beyond. But then I look at her, my strong, vibrant Scarlett Aurora, and I know she's ready for anything. It’s a constant balance of letting go and holding tight, of guiding and letting her explore. This journey of parenthood, especially with a child who mirrors so much of yourself, is truly one of life's greatest gifts. Every laugh, every tear, every 'little me' moment is cherished.
