Hey everyone! So glad to see so many of you are also curious about connecting with Instagram mutuals. When I first joined Lemon8, my main goal was to find some awesome new friends on Instagram, just like I mentioned in my first post here. It's such a great feeling to expand your online community with people who share your interests! First off, what even are Instagram mutuals? I've personally found that having more mutuals makes my feed feel more vibrant and personal. So, how do you actually find them? I've been experimenting, and here's what's worked for me and what I've learned from others: 1. Engage, Engage, Engage! This is probably the most important tip. Don't just scroll! Take a moment to genuinely like posts, leave thoughtful comments, and share content you love. When I see someone engaging with my posts, I'm always curious to check out their profile. It's how I started connecting with people, and it often leads to a follow back. 2. Hashtag Power: Use relevant hashtags on your own posts. Think about what communities you want to be a part of. If you're into beauty, use #beautytips or #makeupcommunity. If you love travel, explore #travelgram or #solotravel. I make sure my own posts (like my recent grid posts of me by a car or my graduation photo) always have a few relevant tags to reach new eyes. 3. Explore Lemon8: This app is a goldmine for finding like-minded creators! I've found so many inspiring accounts here that I then connect with on Instagram. Look for profiles that resonate with you and don't be shy to send a friendly DM. 4. Leverage Instagram's 'Suggested for You': When you follow someone new, Instagram often suggests other similar accounts. This can be a great way to stumble upon potential mutuals. Also, check out who your current friends are following – you might find some gems there! 5. Be Consistent & Authentic: Don't just post once and disappear. Share your life, your passions, and your personality regularly. Your story highlights are also a fantastic way for new visitors to quickly get a sense of who you are and what you're about. People are drawn to authenticity! 6. How to See Mutuals: If you go to someone's profile on Instagram, right below their bio and follower count, it will often say 'Followed by [X] and [Y] others you follow' if you have mutual connections. This is how you can quickly identify if you already share friends with someone, making it easier to connect.
