Any tips? Little stormy she is just 2 months old
I’m trying to trained her to use her pee pad, but she take it for a toy 🤣 and peeing somewhere else instead🤯
Training a puppy to use a pee pad can be a challenging yet rewarding experience, especially with a lively 2-month-old pup who may see the pad as a plaything rather than a bathroom spot. From my experience, consistency and patience are key in guiding puppies through this learning process. First, establish a comfortable and quiet space for the pee pad where your puppy can easily access it but isn’t overwhelmed by distractions. Puppies are naturally curious, so placing the pee pad in an area where they can focus helps minimize the temptation to play with it. Next, always bring your puppy to the pad after meals, naps, and playtime because these are their most common times to relieve themselves. Reward your puppy immediately after they use the pee pad correctly with treats and praise to reinforce positive behavior—this helps the puppy associate the pad with good experiences. If your puppy treats the pad as a toy, redirect their energy with chew toys or other enrichment activities. Sometimes, puppies chew on the pad because they're teething or bored, so providing suitable alternatives can reduce this behavior. Cleaning accidents thoroughly with an enzymatic cleaner is essential to remove any lingering scents that encourage your puppy to go in the wrong spot again. Avoid scolding the puppy, as negative reactions can cause confusion and stress, which hinder training progress. Persistent training, paired with affection and rewards, paves the way for successful pee pad habits. Remember, every puppy learns at their own pace, so a bit of patience will go a long way in raising a well-trained and happy furry friend.
