Writing Scripture to Hide God's Word in My Heart 🤍
✍️📖
I've started handwriting the Bible as a way to slow down, meditate on Scripture, and retain what I'm reading. Instead of rushing through chapters, I'm taking my time and letting God's Word sink in.
I'm currently writing through the Gospel of John and have completed chapters 1–2. My prayer is to hide His Word in my heart and grow in my understanding of Scripture each day.
"Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." -Psalm 119:11 (KJV)
If you'd like to follow along as I write through the Bible one chapter at a time, I'd love to have you here. 🤍📖

Handwriting Scripture has been a transformative spiritual practice for me. Unlike simply reading or listening, writing down verses forces me to slow down, pay close attention to each word, and absorb the meaning more deeply. For example, as I wrote out the first two chapters of the Gospel of John, I found new insights I had previously overlooked. The deliberate act of writing created a calm, reflective space where God’s messages felt more personal. This method also strengthens memory. The physical act of forming each letter seems to imprint verses onto my mind more effectively than reading alone. Psalm 119:11, which says, "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee," perfectly captures the goal of this practice. By writing the words, I feel they stay with me throughout the day, helping me make wiser choices and resist temptations. If you want to try this yourself, start with a favorite passage and write it out slowly, focusing on the meaning behind each phrase. Consider journaling your thoughts and prayers related to what you write—it enhances meditation and creates a personal spiritual archive. Sharing this journey with others, whether through social media or discussion groups, can provide encouragement and accountability as well. Overall, handwriting Scripture is a meaningful way to connect more deeply with the Bible, cultivate patience, and internalize spiritual truths. It invites a slower, meditative approach to reading that helps God's Word truly take root in your heart and life.
