Don’t Let Church Steal You From God

Firstly I want to say I deeply apologize if you’ve ever been hurt by the church that was humans not God. Secondly if you are currently dealing with this Id love to hear what in the church or people made you change your mind about your walk with the Lord. This topic has been on my mind for a while now so I figured I’d share my point of view.

From personal experience, I’ve found that focusing on the difference between the church as a human institution and God’s unchanging nature is key to overcoming these challenges. It’s important to remember that Jesus warned us about false prophets and hypocrites using His name for their own gain. The Bible passages from Matthew 7:15-16 and John 10:10 remind us to exercise discernment and hold fast to the truth of God’s Word rather than being swayed by the actions of others around us. Engaging in regular Bible study and prayer helps build a personal connection with God that isn’t dependent on any individual or church community’s behavior. This also means forgiving those who have caused harm and choosing to rise above bitterness or anger. Additionally, seeking out supportive fellow believers who genuinely model Christ’s love can restore hope and encourage spiritual growth. It’s perfectly valid to take breaks or find alternative ways to worship when the traditional church setting feels painful. Remember, God’s grace is bigger than any human failure, and your relationship with Him does not depend on the perfection of the church but on His faithfulness. Keeping this perspective can help protect your faith journey and ensure the church doesn’t steal you away from God’s love and purpose for your life.
