Christianity Is Not A Disney Experience

2024/9/13 Edited to

... Read moreI totally get it if you've ever felt like your faith journey isn't quite the 'happily ever after' story you imagined, or if you've even found yourself asking, 'why I am not a Christian?' I've been there too. Sometimes, we hear about Christianity and picture a serene, problem-free life, almost like a Disney movie where everything wraps up perfectly. But let me tell you, from my own experience, that's just not the reality. The truth is, following Christ calls us to be a *warrior on a battlefield*, and that means facing spiritual warfare head-on, not running from it. When I first started taking my faith seriously, I was surprised by how much resistance I felt. It wasn't just external challenges; it was internal struggles, doubts, and temptations that seemed to come out of nowhere. It felt far from any 'disney prayer' for easy solutions. That's when I realized what the Bible means when it talks about putting on the full armor of God. It's not just a nice phrase; it's a practical guide for daily living. So, what does this 'spiritual warfare' look like in real life? It's not always dramatic or visible. Sometimes, it's the constant whisper of doubt telling you you're not good enough, or the temptation to give up when things get hard. It's the struggle to forgive, the fight against bitterness, or the overwhelming feeling of anxiety. These are all tactics the enemy uses to distract us, to make us question our faith, and to make us feel like we're alone. This is exactly why developing a strong prayer life is non-negotiable. For me, prayer used to feel like a chore, or something I only did in emergencies. But I've learned it's our direct line to God, our weapon, and our shield. It’s not about wishing for a 'disney prayer' where problems magically disappear. It’s about fighting in the spirit, asking for strength, wisdom, and protection. Start small, maybe just five minutes a day, talking to God like you would a trusted friend. Express your fears, your hopes, and your gratitude. You'll be amazed at how quickly it transforms your perspective and fortifies your spirit. And speaking of fortification, let's talk about that 'spiritual armor' the OCR mentioned. It's not something you put on once and forget. It's a daily intentional choice. For me, it means: The Belt of Truth: Being honest with myself and God, and seeking truth in His word. The Breastplate of Righteousness: Striving to do what's right, even when it's hard, knowing God's grace covers my imperfections. The Shoes of Peace: Actively seeking peace in my heart and sharing it with others, even amidst chaos. The Shield of Faith: Trusting God no matter what, knowing He is good and faithful, especially when doubts creep in. This is crucial when facing those 'why I am not a Christian' moments. The Helmet of Salvation: Protecting my mind from negative thoughts and lies, remembering my identity in Christ. The Sword of the Spirit (God's Word): Studying the Bible, letting it guide my thoughts and actions, and using it to counter the enemy's attacks. Embracing this reality of spiritual warfare and actively engaging in prayer, while putting on our spiritual armor daily, has completely reshaped my understanding of what it means to be a Christian. It's not always easy, but it is incredibly rewarding and empowering. It's a journey that challenges you, yes, but it also strengthens you in ways a fairytale never could. So, stay prayed up, stay armored up, and remember, you're not fighting alone!

Jesus thought of you as He was suffering. His love for you was greater than the desire for His own life. He knew the price of your sin needed to be paid for, and so He paid for it by becoming the only clean and spotless sacrifice worthy to atone for our sins that separated us from the Father.

A watercolor illustration of a woman in full Roman-style armor, surrounded by individual pieces of the Armor of God: Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes of the Gospel of Peace, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, Sword of the Spirit, and Prayer, all referencing Ephesians 6:10-18.
An illustration detailing the 'Belt of Truth' from Ephesians 6:14, showing a belt, a woman in armor, and text explaining its Roman imagery, spiritual meaning (truth holds everything together), and why it matters for a strong foundation.

This is not “cute Christianity”. This is war.
The enemy is strategic. He studies your weaknesses. He aims at your mind, your heart, your peace, your faith, your identity. And too many of us are stepping into the fight with no armor on. #bibletalk #christiancontent #christians #biblejournaling #bibleverses

No, not because of prettier churches.
In Protestant America, it can be hard to see the beauty and true essence of Catholicism with all the misinformation out there. Hope this sheds some light on why It’s actually, (in my opinion) Christianity in its purest form.🕯️📿 #catholicgirl #christianlifestyle #christiangirl #christiancreat

Lukewarm Christianity
This clip from Saved & Such really sat heavy with me this morning. We keep asking God to mold our lives but how is He supposed to do that if the clay is hard? In this season of my life, I’ve come to realize that not asking for help shouldn’t be glorified. I used to think that if I do everything

lukewarm christianity is worst than atheism
lukewarm christianity is dangerous because it feels safe. it keeps the name of Jesus but removes the weight of obedience. it posts bible verses but avoids repentance. it says “God knows my heart” while ignoring what He said. atheism is honest disbelief. lukewarm faith is self deception.
