3rd Trimester Nutrition
In the final stretch, your body needs more energy but less room — you may need up to 500 extra calories a day, even though your stomach feels smaller.
Here’s how to eat smart with meal and snack ideas:
𝟭. 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁-𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 & 𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀:
- Mini pasta or rice bowls with lean protein (chicken, tofu, or beans)
- Half a sandwich with wholegrain bread + avocado + turkey/egg
- Yogurt with berries and a sprinkle of nuts or seeds
- Smoothies with spinach, banana, oats, and a spoon of nut butter
𝟮. 𝗜𝗿𝗼𝗻-𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 & 𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗴𝗮-𝟯 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀:
- Lean red meat, chicken, eggs, lentils, chickpeas
- Oily fish like salmon, sardines, or trout (2–3 servings/week)

- Drink at least 2 litres of water/day; limit processed foods & salt

- Gentle walks or prenatal yoga to help circulation and manage fluid retention
