... Read moreHey everyone! I'm so excited because I just made my new favorite drawing, and I wanted to share a bit more about the journey behind it. Someone told me to draw my shadowself recently, and honestly, I found the idea fascinating. It felt like a really personal and introspective challenge, and as you can see, here she is! For those who might not know, the 'shadow self' is a psychological concept, often described as the parts of ourselves we tend to repress or keep hidden – not necessarily evil, but perhaps our more assertive, rebellious, or even vulnerable sides. Exploring this inner darkness through art has been incredibly liberating. It's not about being negative; it's about acknowledging and integrating all aspects of who we are. My shadow self art became a way for me to release my persona side story, giving a voice and a visual form to those hidden traits. When I started sketching, I really dug deep for inner self drawing ideas. I thought about my own quirks, my sass, and even things I secretly wish I had, like superpowers! That's how my sassy little diva with her smart-ass alien sidekick and those secret bat wings came to life. It’s like she’s a playful representation of my bolder, more mischievous side, the one who pretends she rules the world even if it’s just in my imagination. I encourage you to think about what unique traits your own shadow self might possess – maybe it’s a quiet observer, a wild adventurer, or a thoughtful dreamer. My process typically begins with good old pencil and paper. I find that initial sketch phase crucial for getting the basic form and emotion down. There's something so freeing about just letting the pencil flow without worrying too much about perfection. Once I'm happy with the general layout, I digitize it. For this piece, I brought her into Procreate, which is where the magic really happens for me. Adding color and texture in Procreate allows me to really make the character pop and define her personality. I love experimenting with different brushes to create unique effects, giving her that edgy, ethereal feel. As someone who's mostly self-taught illustration has been a journey of constant exploration and learning, and Procreate has been an amazing tool for that. Creating this shadow self art wasn't just about drawing; it was a deeply reflective experience. It's a wonderful way to delve into self-concept and understand different facets of your personality. Maybe your shadow self is a powerful warrior, or perhaps a serene mystic. Don't be afraid to let your imagination run wild! If you're looking for inner self drawing ideas, start by journaling about your subconscious thoughts or even your dreams. What kind of imagery comes to mind? What symbols represent your hidden strengths or challenges? I hope my little journey inspires you to explore your own inner darkness shadow self art. It doesn't have to be perfect; the most important thing is the process of self-discovery. Forget about creating clipart or something for public consumption if that's not your goal. This is about you. What story does your shadow self want to tell? Pick up your pencil, open your favorite digital art app, and let your inner diva (or whatever persona is waiting!) emerge!
