... Read moreIt’s wild looking back at my 2016 sorority days! When I see these photos from my time in Delta Zeta at CSUSM, it brings back such a wave of nostalgia. For anyone curious about what being a '2016 sorority girl' was really like, or if you're thinking about joining a sorority at CSUSM, I wanted to share a little more about my experience beyond just these snapshots. Recruitment week in 2016 felt like a whirlwind, just as intense and exciting as these 'Recruitment Day 1,' 'Recruitment Day 2,' and 'Recruitment Day 3' outfits suggest! Each day had its own vibe – from meeting so many amazing women to finding out where I truly felt at home. I remember spending so much time planning those outfits, wanting to make a great first impression while still feeling comfortable. It wasn't just about looking good; it was about showing your personality. My biggest advice for anyone going through recruitment now, or even thinking about it for future years, is to be your authentic self. Seriously, it sounds cliché, but when you're talking to so many people, the genuine connections are the ones that stick. And don't worry too much about what everyone else is wearing; focus on what makes you feel confident. Once 'Bid Day!' arrived, the excitement was absolutely electric. Getting that bid to Delta Zeta at CSUSM was one of the happiest moments of my college life. Suddenly, you're surrounded by dozens of new sisters, all shouting 'DELTA ZETA!' and throwing what you know – that classic sorority hand sign that makes for the best pictures! The sisterhood truly began there. We had so many fun events and traditions. I remember our themed socials, philanthropy events, and just chilling in the chapter room. Of course, this was prime Snapchat filter era, so you can bet there were plenty of 'Classic Snapchat filter' selfies with our dog ears and flower crowns. And yes, 'Puppy pictures are a must' was definitely a vibe – who doesn't love cuddling cute dogs? Our chapter also loved to embrace themes like 'Floral Everything,' making every event feel extra special and picture-perfect. Being a 'sorority girl' in 2016 was more than just the fun photos and events. It was about building a strong support system, finding mentors, and making lifelong friends. My sisters were there for me through thick and thin, from study sessions to celebrating milestones. Joining Delta Zeta at CSUSM taught me so much about leadership, community service, and how to balance academics with an active social life. It really enhanced my college experience and gave me a sense of belonging. If you're considering joining a sorority, especially at a school like CSUSM, I highly recommend looking into it. The memories, like these throwbacks, truly last a lifetime. It's a unique journey filled with growth, laughter, and incredible sisterhood.
