The results of a good rain ☔️ 🌧️🍄

This rainy season in Cheyenne, Wyoming, has been an absolute dream for foraging fungi! With the recent showers and cooler temperatures, my yard has become a fungi wonderland. Cheyenne is home to some fascinating native fungi, and this season has brought out some real treasures. I’ve been finding a variety of mushrooms, from the delicate yet vibrant amanitas to clusters of shaggy mane mushrooms. These little beauties thrive in the moist, shaded areas of my yard, where the damp soil and organic matter create the perfect conditions for growth.

Fungi love a yard that’s been kissed by rain and shaded by trees, with plenty of decaying leaves and wood to feed on. My yard, with its mix of trees and the cool, wet weather, has turned into the perfect mushroom habitat. As a witch, there’s something so magical about foraging these fungi, connecting with nature, and gathering ingredients for potions and spells. Each mushroom feels like a little gift from the earth, waiting to be discovered and appreciated.

I’ve been spending my mornings exploring every nook and cranny of my yard, basket in hand, collecting mushrooms and learning more about each species I find. It’s not just about the foraging, but the whole experience—feeling the earth beneath my feet, breathing in the fresh, rain-soaked air, and immersing myself in the natural world.

This fungi season has been a truly enchanting time, and I’m loving every moment of it.
