To the people who feel the need to pry into my business, obsess over what I do and don’t post on social media, and then gossip about me to others in the Arab-American community:
Mind your own business.
Just because you’re unhappy with your own life doesn’t mean you need to create drama in someone else’s just to make yours feel more fulfilling.
Trying to tear someone else down will never fill whatever is missing in your own life.
And there’s a reason people become selective about who they associate with and who they allow into their circle. Nobody wants that kind of toxicity around them.
It’s especially sad watching grown women behave like teenagers—gossiping, creating drama, obsessing over other people’s lives, and trying desperately to cling to a stage of life they’ve already outgrown.
Getting older is inevitable. Maturing apparently isn’t.
If you have nothing better to do than obsess over someone else’s life, maybe it’s time to take a closer look at your own.

From personal experience, dealing with gossip and unsolicited judgment within close-knit communities can be emotionally draining. In the Arab-American community, as highlighted, the tendency to pry into others' lives often stems from dissatisfaction with one’s own circumstances. It’s important to recognize that gossip and hypocrisy not only hurt individuals but also create a toxic environment that pushes people away from genuine connections and even their faith. Reflecting on my own encounters, I noticed how some people publicly display piety—quoting religious texts like Quranic verses—yet privately engage in gossip and judgment. This contradiction damages trust and community spirit. It reminded me that self-awareness and integrity go hand in hand; while it might be tempting to project personal frustrations onto others, true growth involves focusing on improving our own behavior first. Setting boundaries is vital. It’s okay to distance yourself from those who perpetuate negativity or drama. Protecting your peace means prioritizing your mental health and surrounding yourself with supportive, uplifting people. When someone obsesses over your life or spreads misinformation, the best approach is often to calmly assert your space without engaging in the cycle. Maturity is about recognizing that getting older isn’t just biological but also about emotional growth. Holding grudges or clinging to outdated social dynamics does nothing but hinder personal development. Instead, focusing on self-respect inspires others to do the same. Ultimately, this message resonates beyond the community mentioned—it's a universal call to stop tearing others down for validation. We all benefit when we mind our own business and cultivate kindness and understanding in our interactions.
