You Can Try to Escape
Hey fellow loopers! I’ve been getting so many questions about how I manage to consistently shut down opponents in Fortnite Ranked Duos, especially when they try to pull off those sneaky escapes. Honestly, it’s all about understanding the flow of the game and anticipating their moves. For me, the mindset is always: 'Nobody escapes me!' And with practice, you can achieve a similar dominance. One of my favorite 'escape tactics' to counter is predicting their rotation. If you've just engaged a duo and pushed one of them, the other will often try to flank or create distance. This is your cue! Instead of just chasing the one you damaged, try to cut off their partner's escape route or position yourself to catch them off guard as they attempt to rejoin or retreat. Good comms with your duo partner are crucial here. We often call out 'one low, pushing left!' while the other covers the right, effectively boxing them in. Another key aspect is utilizing the environment to your advantage. Are you near a cliff? Can you destroy their ramp to send them falling? Is there a building you can quickly tarp over them? Don't just shoot; think three steps ahead. I love using ramps and cones to quickly box someone in after I’ve landed a solid shot. Once they’re trapped, it’s usually game over. They might try to tunnel out, but a well-placed pickaxe swing or shotgun blast can quickly end their efforts. Weapon choice also plays a massive role. While long-range weapons are great for initiating, when it comes to preventing escapes, you need something that deals high burst damage up close. My go-to is always a strong shotgun paired with an SMG. The shotgun for the initial burst, and the SMG to shred builds and finish off quickly if they try to create distance. This combo ensures that even if they create a small opening, you can close the gap and secure the elimination before they can heal up or truly get away. This strategy has helped me maintain a super high elimination rate, often seeing my percentages, like that +81% headshot accuracy or eliminations, really shine! In the late game, zone control is everything. If you can force opponents into a bad position with the storm at their back, their 'escape tactics' become severely limited. They have to move towards you, giving you the advantage. Learn to read the storm circles and position yourself early. This isn't just about surviving; it's about setting up traps for those desperate last-minute rotations. When you've got them cornered between you and the storm, truly, nobody escapes. It’s such a satisfying feeling to see your strategic planning pay off in a clutch win. Remember, it’s not just about aiming; it’s about outsmarting your opponents. Every engagement is a chess match. Think about their options, block their retreats, and apply pressure relentlessly. With enough practice and the right mentality, you'll find yourself saying 'You can try to escape, but it won't work!' more often than not.
