Goodie Bags for Flight Crew

I made these goodie bags for the flight crew on my upcoming trip. I hope they like them and know I appreciate their hard work and patience. In the bags I included little things I got at the Dollar Tree that came in multipacks. Here’s the list: notepad, pen, comb, emery board, antibacterial wipe, cheese and crackers, granola bar, Emergent-C, hydration drink mixes, pack of gum, & assorted candies. It put them in the DT cello bags and tied with ribbon I had on hand and with a tag I printed out. #delta #flightattendents #appreciation #travelbites

... Read moreIt's truly such a small thing, but making goodie bags for flight crew has become one of my favorite pre-trip rituals! I started doing it a few years ago after realizing how incredibly hard flight attendants work to make our journeys smooth and safe. They deal with so much, often with a smile, and a little gesture of appreciation can truly brighten their day. It’s not just about the items inside; it's about acknowledging their dedication. While my original post focused on my Dollar Tree haul (which is fantastic for budget-friendly finds!), I've picked up a few more ideas and tips over time to make these "thank you" goodie bags even more special. What Else Can You Add to Your Flight Crew Goodie Bags? Beyond the basics like a small notebook, pen, and antibacterial wipe – which are always appreciated – here are some other thoughtful items that flight attendants often love, keeping in mind they’re often on the go and need practical things: Comfort Essentials: Travel-sized hand cream (unscented is best, as strong perfumes can be an issue), soothing lip balm, or even a mini pack of tissues. Long flights can be drying, and these small luxuries make a big difference. More Snappy Snacks: While my list included cheese and crackers and granola bars, consider adding some nice quality chocolate or a variety pack of nuts (clearly labeled if possible, for allergies). Individually wrapped cookies or a small bag of gourmet jerky can also be a hit. Hydration drink mixes like Emergen-C are fantastic, but a nice herbal tea bag or a single-serve coffee sachet can also be a welcome treat. Practical Gadgets: A mini portable phone charger (though this can get pricey), or even a small, high-quality pen that feels good to write with. Earplugs or a travel eye mask could also offer a moment of peace during their breaks. Personal Touches: A handwritten thank you tag, as mentioned in my original post and observed in the OCR, truly elevates the gift. Just a few lines expressing genuine gratitude for their service makes the clear bag of goodies feel much more personal. You can even personalize the colorful ribbon with a small "thank you" charm if you're feeling extra crafty! Tips for Making and Presenting Your Goodie Bags: Quantity: Think about the average crew size for your flight. For a standard domestic flight, you might need 3-5 bags. For international or larger planes, you might need more. Presentation: While I love my Dollar Tree cello bags, presentation matters. A pretty colorful ribbon and a clear "thank you" tag (which the OCR also picked up on!) make them look inviting. You want them to be easy to spot and grab. Delivery: I usually hand them over discreetly during boarding, often when I'm walking to my seat or just before the cabin door closes. A simple, "Thank you for your hard work, this is for the crew!" is usually enough. They're often surprised and genuinely thankful. Allergy Awareness: Always opt for individually wrapped items. If you include snacks, avoiding common allergens (like peanuts) or at least having a variety is a good idea. Unscented items are generally safer for toiletries. It's amazing how such a small investment of time and money can lead to such a positive interaction. These goodie bags aren't just gifts; they're a way to acknowledge the often-unseen efforts of the people who ensure our safety and comfort in the skies. It feels good to give back, and I've found that it often starts my trip off on a wonderfully positive note!
