BABY MILESTONES | 4-6 months old👶🏻
PART 2 of baby milestones — between 4 to 6 months, babies experience rapid development in many areas: physical, cognitive & emotional growth.
⭐️TIPS FOR THESE MONTHS:
-Encourage LOTS of tummy time & play with toys that promote reaching & grabbing.
-Keep talking & reading to your baby to stimulate language development. Keep showing them high contrast images from books or flash cards.
-Maintain routines to help your baby feel secure.
-At 6 months baby can be introduced to solids.
This stage is an exciting time as your baby’s personality & abilities blossom.🥰
⭐️Again, keep in mind that ALL BABIES ARE DIFFERENT & they will reach milestones at different stages. If your baby is not doing these things by the suggested age, it does NOT mean they’re delayed. If you have concerns about milestone delays please consult your pediatrician.

Okay, fellow parents, let's dive even deeper into what makes those 4-6 months so special! My little one just hit this stage, and it’s truly incredible to watch the rapid changes. One thing I’ve been so excited to see is their physical development, especially how strong their muscles are getting! You might notice your baby really working on their head control, holding it steady for longer periods during tummy time. This is a huge step! Around 4 months, many babies start to really master pushing up on their arms, lifting their chest off the ground. It looks like they're doing tiny push-ups! This isn't just cute; it's vital for building strength in their neck, shoulders, and back, which sets the stage for rolling and eventually sitting. To encourage this, I always make tummy time fun with brightly colored toys placed just out of reach. It motivates them to lift their head and extend those arms. Then comes the magical rolling! My baby started rolling from tummy to back around 4 months, and then, a few weeks later, surprised me by rolling from back to tummy. It’s a huge milestone! Make sure your baby has plenty of safe space on the floor to practice. We used a soft play mat, and I'd often demonstrate rolling myself (with much less grace, of course!) to show them how it's done. This constant movement really helps with their overall muscle development. Beyond the physical, their little brains are just exploding! Around 5 to 6 months, you'll likely notice them recognizing familiar faces and voices with such joy. It’s truly heartwarming when they beam at you from across the room. They’re also starting to understand cause and effect – like shaking a rattle to make noise, or how pressing a button makes a toy light up. I've found that playing peek-a-boo not only elicits the sweetest giggles but also helps them grasp object permanence and reinforces those connections with familiar people. Their social and emotional world is blossoming too. My baby has become so much more vocal, with lots of cooing and babbling. It's like they're trying to have full conversations! I make sure to talk back to them, describing what I’m doing or seeing, which really helps stimulate their language development. They're also becoming more interested in tracking objects visually across the room, showing their growing curiosity in their surroundings. Remember, every baby develops at their own unique pace. If your little one isn't hitting every tiny milestone exactly on schedule, try not to worry too much. But if you have any genuine concerns about their overall growth and development, always chat with your pediatrician – they’re your best resource! Just enjoy these precious months of watching your baby explore and grow.
