Tell me your favourite albums!!!
Blackstar - David Bowie : one of my favourite albums of all time, I always come back for it; it’s deeply personal and introspective and worth a listen for sure… it’s experimental jazz however so some of the tracks might not be for everyone. Fav Track: Dollar Days
Dirt - Alice In Chains : this is essentially a h*roin diary so yet again an album that is to be consumed lightly because the subject matter is heavy. It’s a heavier form of grunge that resembles metal with post-punk and goth elements. Fav Track: Hate To Feel
Wish - The Cure : another one of my favourite albums of all time; this one blends shoegaze with distinct Cure sounds and heavy subject matter. Fav Track: From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea
Blue Bell Knoll - Cocteau Twins : this is the album that most successfully blended their goth roots into beautiful ethereal shoegaze. Fav Track: Title Track
Songs of A Lost World - The Cure : despite coming out in December, this album ALREADY feels nostalgic and melancholic in a way only the Cure can… similar to Wish stylistically while also retaining more Disintegration and P*rnography styled lyricism, this is already one of my favourites. Fav Track Endsong
The Rapture - Siouxsie and the Banshees : unfortunately this albums name coincides with what this album was for the band… a fitting blend of early goth and later more post-punk, new wave and rock sounds that pays homage to their career. Fav Track: Forever
Neon Ballroom - Silverchair : similar to Dirt in the sense that this album is a heavy lyrical journey that leaves you drained but unlike Alice In Chains, Daniel Johns blends several styles in this album with the tracks flowing from frantic modern post-rock to more grunge styled tracks while also interspacing more melancholic tracks like Ana’s Song which speak to his an*rexia and the pain of finding success too early. Fav Track: Emotion Sickness
Pretty Hate Machine - Nine Inch Nails : the album that would establish NIN as a driving force in experimental production and industrial rock, this is a similarly heavy styles album. Fav Track: Something I Can Never Have
Third - Portishead : despite the fact that people dont give this album as much love as Dummy; i believe this is a more refined more thoughtful porduction with Beth Gibbons producing her best vocal and lyrical work. Fav Track: Threads
