You Can’t Punish Vision
I’m not going to stop being smart to accommodate people in my life who get intimidated by me: not in business, not in my personal life, not in my day-to-day life.
Two weeks ago, I stopped my collaboration with the owners of the clothing store.
The reason that happened wasn’t because of my performance as a manager, but because I didn’t listen to things that weren’t helping the business grow.
Instead, I implemented the vision, creativity, and knowledge that God plants within me every day.
And here’s the interesting part.
We are told “not to outshine the master.”
I will do it every time if the master doesn’t have precision, clarity, and strategy about where he is going.
Because of that, my last commission for the final month I worked wasn’t given to me. I didn’t argue. I simply said, “Keep it. That says what kind of business owner you are.”
It doesn’t say anything about me. It says everything about him.
This mentality has to stop: business owners punishing, in different ways, people who outshine the master.
Just stop. Whoever you are and whatever business you’re running.
We are not going to be less smart to accommodate you or your business.
