🌸 3 Things I’m Most Proud Of As A Mom
Happy Mother’s Day!
Sometimes in all the stress and guilt we forget how incredible we are actually doing as moms. Here are a few things I like to remember when I start to sink too far into the negative:
🌸 Not being afraid to act silly in public: I have always been quiet, pretty antisocial, and embarrass easily. For them I’ve been able to put that behind me. It’s so freeing to just act like a kid with your kid and see their faces light up when you’re having fun together! And I refuse to let them build up the same fear of being themselves and trying new things that I had.
🌸 Withholding verbal judgements of my own body: I of course absolutely would never criticize any aspect of my child’s appearance. But I think it’s hard for us to remember not to say those things about themselves too. They hear it and absorb it. Especially at a young age there is no need for them to feel badly or self conscious about how they look. And truthfully, seeing how 100% beautiful they really are has helped me realize for myself it’s not necessary to criticize silly details about my appearance. Loving them has made me better.
🌸 Saying I’m sorry: We’re not always right, and we owe it to them as little people to tell them we made a mistake. Not only to be kind, but so they can recognize that certain behaviors are not okay. Any time I start to lose my temper a little bit I tell her I’m sorry and explain what it was that I did that was wrong. Hearing “I’m sorry” was not something I ever received myself, and I will absolutely not let that self-important mindset be something I carry with me.

Being a mom is a journey filled with challenges and triumphs. One of the key aspects to embrace is the importance of self-acceptance and positivity. Moms should remember that their children are constantly observing and learning from their behavior. A crucial point is promoting a healthy body image. By withholding negative comments about their own bodies, mothers can instill confidence in their children and help them feel secure in their own skin. This sets an empowering example, encouraging young ones to respect and love themselves. Additionally, the act of apologizing is vital in nurturing a healthy parent-child relationship. It acknowledges humanity and invites open communication. By showing children that mistakes are a part of life, it teaches them accountability and compassion, emphasizing that it's okay to admit when they're wrong. Every proud moment in motherhood is a reflection of growth, not just for the kids, but for the mothers themselves. Sharing these experiences reinforces community bonds and encourages more moms to celebrate their unique journeys.
