Mentally, I often find myself in a different place—somewhere warm and bright—while reality keeps me bundled up and longing for sunshine. It’s like my mind is saying, "Mentally, I’m here," but my body is stuck in a snowy scene that never ends.
One strategy that helped me is creating small rituals to inject joy during those bleak days: cozying up with a favorite book by the window, enjoying a warm drink, or planning summer activities to look forward to. Keeping a visual countdown to the first day of summer can provide a hopeful perspective, reminding you there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
Additionally, combining movement with brief exposure to daylight—even in the cold—can elevate mood. Even if the snow piles high outside, a brisk walk or some indoor yoga near a sunny window can help combat the seasonal blues. If the mental fog feels overwhelming, reaching out to others in similar situations or joining online communities of moms sharing lifestyle tips can create a supportive network.
Remember, those feelings are valid and shared by many. Holding onto the thought that summer is close—and the snow will eventually give way—was my personal lifeline. This mental shift from focusing on the discomfort of ongoing winter to embracing the promise of warmth and sunshine can make a significant difference. Hang in there! Soon enough, the snow will stop and summer’s glow will be here to brighten your days.
