One of the biggest questions I get is, "What are the actual benefits beyond just feeling good?" Well, let me tell you! Beyond the immediate feeling of calm, consistent morning yoga can significantly improve your flexibility over time, reduce stress and anxiety, and even boost your focus for the day ahead. I've noticed a huge difference in my ability to handle daily stressors when I start with these intentional movements and breathwork. It helps shift my body from a 'fight or flight' state to a 'rest and digest' state, which is exactly what a nervous system reset feels like! For those wondering how to make this a habit, or what specific poses to try, it's easier than you think! You don't need fancy equipment, just a quiet space and a few minutes. I often start with simple Cat-Cow stretches to warm up my spine, followed by a Child's Pose to gently release tension in my back and hips. Another favorite is a gentle Seated Spinal Twist, which feels amazing for releasing any stiffness. If I have a bit more time, I'll do a Supine Spinal Twist in bed before even getting up – it's incredibly relaxing! The key is to listen to your body and move gently, without forcing anything.
