Returning from dad’s
It’s tough on my girls when they return from their dads. Adjusting from one house to the next. One parent to the other. So when I get them back from their dad’s, I tried to make bedtime easy on them and me. I get everything they need for getting ready for bed, their PJs ready on my bed and layout clothes for the next day. I lay out their clean towels for them when they get out of the of the shower.
Adjusting after a visit to a second home can be challenging for children. To support their emotional well-being, maintain open communication about their feelings regarding switching households. Establishing consistent bedtime routines plays a pivotal role in helping kids feel secure and settled. Prepare their space ahead of time, ensuring all essentials like pajamas, clothes, and toiletries are ready upon their return. Engaging in activities together can also facilitate bonding. Encourage sharing thoughts about their time spent at their dad's, making them feel valued and heard. It’s essential to be patient and understanding, as every child adapts at their own pace. Consider incorporating familiar bedtime stories or rituals that provide comfort during these transitions. These small but meaningful touches can significantly enhance their experience and ease any potential anxiety associated with moving between homes.
