i hate being perceived 🥲🙃
Does anyone else just hate being perceived?? 🥺
Like… the fact that people can see me in public, have opinions about me, notice me, look at me… it makes my skin crawl sometimes. I don’t even mean in a dramatic way, like I just genuinely hate being perceived at all.
Some days I wish I could just exist quietly without feeling like eyes are on me, or like I have to think about how I come across. It’s so draining.
I don’t know if it’s anxiety or introvert problems 😂 but it makes me feel so alone sometimes. I’ve even stayed home because the thought made me feel so insecure and anxious!
Does anyone else feel like this?? 😭🤍
Many people can relate to the feeling of discomfort when they are noticed or perceived by others in public. This sensation often stems from social anxiety and introversion, where the presence of others' attention can trigger feelings of vulnerability and insecurity. The phrase "Does anyone else hate being seen in public?" perfectly encapsulates a common struggle experienced by many. Social anxiety is a mental health condition characterized by an intense fear of social situations where a person might be scrutinized or judged. This fear can cause people to avoid social settings, isolate themselves, or feel overwhelmed when they cannot avoid being seen. Feeling like all eyes are on you can indeed make one's skin crawl, as it challenges a person’s sense of privacy and safety. Introverts, who typically recharge by spending time alone rather than in social environments, may also find public attention particularly draining. They often prefer to "exist quietly" without the pressure of being observed or evaluated, which can be exhausting to maintain in today's society where social interactions and public exposure are frequent. To manage these feelings, it can be helpful to adopt some coping strategies. Mindfulness and grounding techniques, such as focusing on your breath or engaging your senses, can calm the nervous system when anxiety spikes. Building self-compassion and reminding yourself that others are often less focused on you than you think can reduce the pressure of perceived judgment. Seeking a supportive community or professional help, such as therapy, can provide tools to better understand and manage these anxieties. Sharing experiences in cozy chats or online forums helps to realize you are not alone in feeling this way. Ultimately, disliking being perceived is a valid feeling tied to complex mental health and personality factors. Recognizing and validating these feelings is the first step toward finding peace and learning to navigate social spaces with more confidence and less anxiety.

i feel this same way. but when i really think about it, nobody will remember. i bet you dont remember any of the faces you glance at in public. i definitely dont. i get like self conscious about like walking around the block bc of all the cars that drive by but i dont remember any of the people walking when i drive by them so
