dairy queen’s breakfast menu is a FLOP 😭👎🏻
I was really excited for these new dessert options at Dairy Queen and to be honest they were kind of a letdown. I tried two of the new items, and here are my thoughts 👇🏻
Cinnamon Toast Crunch dipped cone 🍦:
7/10 | $3.39 | 290 cals for a small
My husband got this, but of course I had to try it first! When you taste it at first it honestly tastes chemically/artifical, but then on the backend you taste the Cinnamon Toast Crunch and the flavor is really accurate, but I couldn’t get over the first taste.
Choco frosted donut blizzard 🍩:
6/10 | $4.09 | 380 cals for a mini
I liked the sprinkles and the donut texture. The donuts do taste how they should, but it’s like the flavor of cheap gas station chocolate donuts. It’s just not something I need in my icecream.
The buzz around Dairy Queen's latest dessert innovations, especially their "breakfast-themed" ice cream treats, has been hard to ignore! Like many of you, I was intrigued by the concept of incorporating classic breakfast flavors into our beloved Blizzards and cones. While the original review offered a first look at the Choco Frosted Donut Blizzard and the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Dipped Cone, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into what these new creations truly bring to the table and explore the broader trend of breakfast-inspired desserts. Let's talk more about that Choco Frosted Donut Blizzard. The original review mentioned a "cheap gas station chocolate donuts" flavor, and I totally get what they mean. Imagine a donut that's been sitting out a little too long, where the chocolate glaze has lost its fresh, melt-in-your-mouth quality, and the cake itself feels a tad dense. While the little donut pieces offer a fun, chewy texture and the sprinkles add a pop of color, as seen in the close-up image of the blizzard in its white cup with a cute donut emoji, the overall chocolate taste can lean towards being overly sweet and a bit artificial. It’s not necessarily bad, but if you're expecting gourmet chocolate, you might find it falls short. It feels like a nostalgic, slightly lower-quality chocolate experience rather than a premium one. This Blizzard might appeal most to those who love a very specific, almost retro, kind of chocolate donut flavor in their ice cream. Now, onto the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Dipped Cone. The original review highlighted an initial "chemical/artificial" taste before the authentic Cinnamon Toast Crunch flavor emerged. This first impression can be a real hurdle! I wonder if it’s the coating itself or how it interacts with the soft-serve. However, once that distinctive cinnamony-sugary goodness hits, it's undeniably accurate. The crunch from the cereal pieces is a delightful textural contrast to the smooth ice cream. Looking at the promotional image for Dairy Queen's new breakfast-themed ice cream, you can practically see the cereal bits clinging to the cone, and the OCR even noted its "messy nature." This is definitely a cone you'll want to eat quickly, perhaps with a napkin handy, as the coating can get a bit sticky and crumbly – but that’s often part of the fun with a dipped cone, right? If you adore Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, you'll likely appreciate the flavor accuracy, even if the journey to get there is a little bumpy. Beyond these two, the "breakfast ice cream" trend at Dairy Queen includes other popular items, like the much-talked-about Fruity Pebbles Milkshake. While not part of the initial review, the sheer number of queries for "Fruity Pebbles Milkshake Dairy Queen" shows how much interest there is in these cereal-inspired treats. Imagining the vibrant colors and sweet, fruity notes of Fruity Pebbles blended into a creamy shake is definitely appealing to anyone who loves a playful, sugary dessert. It really taps into that childhood nostalgia, similar to the CTC cone. Ultimately, Dairy Queen's new breakfast-themed ice creams are an interesting experiment. They attempt to blend comfort food with dessert, offering unique flavor profiles. For their price points—around $3-$4—they offer a fun, albeit sometimes flawed, treat. My personal takeaway is that while they might not become my new go-to items, they're certainly worth trying once if you're curious and open to adventurous flavors. If you're looking for a safe bet, a classic DQ Blizzard or cone might still be your best option, but if you're feeling a bit daring and want to taste what all the breakfast-dessert hype is about, give these a try! Just manage your expectations, especially for those initial artificial notes, and you might find a new, quirky favorite.

As a DQ worker all of the dip cones are messy. All of the cones can get messy period. The blizzards can get very messy it honestly just depends on the machine and whether the ice cream is soft or not. Sometimes the ice cream is so soft that it can take a couple attempts to make specific blizzards. Did anyone try the mint crunch dip for the month of March? I didn’t get the chance too
