June Reading Wrapup

As June wraps up, I'm thrilled to share my latest reading adventure with all of you! This month has been a fantastic mix, ranging from gripping thrillers to heartwarming YA novels that truly left an imprint on my brain. If you're looking for your next read, especially a great John Grisham novel or a series that captures the essence of summer, you've come to the right place. Starting with a classic, I finally picked up JOHN GRISHAM's 'The Firm', and WOWZA, I can't believe it took me so long! This book was absolutely phenomenal. I'd read 'Gray Mountain' in college and knew Grisham was good, but 'The Firm' blew me away. It's a masterclass in clever plotting, keeping you hooked with its action-packed narrative and a truly strong villain. The audiobook, by the way, was exceptional – I highly recommend it if you enjoy a good listen. It's truly a memorable read that showcases why Grisham is often considered among the best in legal thrillers. If you're wondering which John Grisham novel to start with or read next, this is a definite contender. Then there's 'Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales'. Oh my goodness, I absolutely love Emily Wilde and Wendell! This book was perfection, and if this is the end for them, I can say it was a good one, though I secretly hope for more. Heather Fawcett is absolutely phenomenal at crafting a world with an unforgettable protagonist and memorable minor characters. The strong relationships and even the strong villain make this a standout fantasy read that you won't soon forget. And how could I forget 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' series? This collection of books – 'The Summer I Turned Pretty,' 'It's Not Summer Without You,' and 'We'll Always Have Summer' – was a rollercoaster of emotions. The first book was pure perfection for me; if it were the only book to survive, I'd happily reread it until the end of my days. It’s beautifully-written, easy to read, and so nostalgic and relatable, with a steady pacing that keeps you engrossed. The second book, 'It's Not Summer Without You,' truly eviscerated me, but I loved it nonetheless. And the Taylor Swift song lyrics ringing in my head while reading 'We'll Always Have Summer'? Pure bliss! I know there's a lot of debate, but I was never Team Jellyfish, and I was so happy with the satisfying conclusion. These books truly are well-structured and enchanted. Finally, I revisited 'Marked'. I first read this book 18 years ago, and I loved it then as I love it now. The audiobook cracked me up; the narrator's voices were killing me! It's such an original story with likeable characters, and I can't wait to reread more from this series. It really holds up over time. This June's reading wrap-up offered a fantastic journey through different genres, from the gripping world of John Grisham to the magical tales of Emily Wilde and the nostalgic summer romance of Belly and Conrad/Jeremiah.
