The things you ignore in the beginning….

the things you ignore in the beginning…

We’ve all heard the saying,

“The things you ignore in the beginning will be the reason the relationship ends.”

I don’t think that’s always true.

People grow.

People change.

People learn.

But I do think there’s something worth paying attention to.

Sometimes we dismiss the little things because we’re excited.

We tell ourselves,

“It’s not a big deal.”

“They’ll probably grow out of it.”

“Maybe I’m overthinking.”

Sometimes we stay quiet because we don’t want to seem difficult.

Other times, we convince ourselves that love will naturally fix what communication never addressed.

The truth is…

Small issues don’t always stay small.

A lack of honesty can become broken trust.

Poor communication can become emotional distance.

Disrespect can become resentment.

Avoiding conflict can become years of unmet needs.

The beginning of a relationship isn’t about finding perfection.

It’s about paying attention.

Not to judge someone for every flaw—but to notice whether they’re willing to listen, take accountability, and grow alongside you.

Because the healthiest relationships aren’t built by ignoring problems.

They’re built by facing them together.

Have you ever looked back and realized something you brushed off early became much bigger later? 🤍

... Read moreFrom personal experience, I've seen how the small things in a relationship truly do matter over time. When my partner and I first started dating, we both dismissed minor disagreements as harmless or temporary. We told ourselves things like, “They'll probably change” or “It's just a phase.” However, these unresolved issues slowly built walls between us, leading to misunderstandings and emotional distance. What helped us was learning to openly communicate about even the smallest discomforts early on rather than brushing them off. Honest conversations about boundaries, expectations, and feelings turned out to be crucial for growth. I realized that ignoring things like inconsistent communication or subtle signs of disrespect can sometimes lead to broken trust or resentment later. Moreover, it’s important not to expect love alone to fix everything. Love provides the foundation, but active effort, accountability, and vulnerability are essential to face challenges together. Paying attention from the beginning doesn’t mean looking for perfection but being mindful of each other’s willingness to listen and grow. In essence, a flourishing relationship grows from continuous openness and mutual respect. Addressing the 'things you ignore in the beginning' helps prevent issues from becoming deeply rooted and strengthens your connection as a couple over time.

i 100% disagree with this my ex fiancé hit me in the face in the beginning of our relationship and i ignored it and it ultimately was the biggest reason we split and i put a restraining order on him

Lust can feel powerful especially at the beginning
But love is what remains when the excitement settles. Love is patient, grounded, and consistent. If something fades the moment things slow down or boundaries appear, it was desire, not devotion. Ask yourself: Do I feel chosen, or just wanted? ❤️‍🩹

3 Things My Body Needed (and yours might too) 💗
