The poodoo #granddog

Ever heard of a 'poodoo'? Well, in our family, it's our affectionate name for our beloved granddog, who's a wonderful Poodle mix! I wanted to share a bit about what makes these furry friends so special, especially for families looking for a new addition. My 'poodoo' absolutely lights up our lives. They are known for their incredible intelligence and lively personalities, which makes them incredibly fun to be around. One of the first things you'll notice about a Poodle or Poodle mix is their playful spirit. My granddog is always ready for a game of fetch in the yard or a cuddle session on the couch. Their energy is infectious, and they truly become a cherished member of the family, often knowing exactly when you need a little extra TLC. One common question I get is about their coat. Poodles are famous for being hypoallergenic, which is a huge plus for many families with allergies. While 'poodoo' mixes can vary, many retain this wonderful trait, shedding minimally. This does mean they need regular grooming to keep their coats healthy and tangle-free. I usually take my granddog to the groomer every 6-8 weeks, and in between, I enjoy brushing them myself – it's a nice bonding experience! Training a 'poodoo' has been a delightful journey. Their intelligence means they pick up commands quickly, and they thrive on mental stimulation. We love teaching ours new tricks, and they seem to genuinely enjoy the challenge. Early socialization is key, too. We made sure our granddog met lots of different people and other dogs when they were a puppy, which has helped them grow into a well-adjusted and friendly companion. They're wonderful with children and other pets, making them truly ideal 'granddogs' for multi-generational homes. Beyond their good looks and smarts, what I truly appreciate about my 'poodoo' is their unwavering loyalty and affection. They're always happy to see us, whether it’s a quick visit or a longer stay. Their presence brings so much warmth and laughter into our home. If you're considering adding a Poodle or a Poodle mix to your family, I wholeheartedly recommend it.
