THIS IS EAST AFRICA 🌍 @ETHIOPIA
Hey everyone! I know many of you have been curious about the 'Egyptian text' Ishowspeed has been using, and it really got me thinking about how ancient symbols and languages capture our imagination. While that specific text might be a fun internet mystery, it sparked my own journey to explore places where ancient history truly comes alive! That’s what led me to Addis Ababa, the vibrant capital of Ethiopia, often called the 'political capital of Africa.' Forget what you think you know about ancient scripts; Ethiopia actually boasts one of the oldest continuously used alphabets in the world, Ge'ez! It's a living link to incredible ancient kingdoms, not just a passing internet trend. My trip to Addis Ababa was absolutely unforgettable. Imagine stepping into a city bustling with energy, where modern life blends seamlessly with centuries of history. One of my first stops was the National Museum of Ethiopia, where I got to see Lucy, our common ancestor, the 3.2-million-year-old hominid fossil! It’s mind-blowing to think about. Then there’s the incredible Holy Trinity Cathedral, a stunning example of Ethiopian Orthodox architecture, filled with intricate artwork and the tombs of Emperor Haile Selassie and his empress. The sense of history there is palpable. And oh, the food! Ethiopian cuisine is a feast for the senses. Injera, the spongy sourdough flatbread, served with delicious stews (wat) like doro wat (chicken stew) or shiro wat (chickpea stew), is an experience in itself. Eating with your hands, sharing from a communal platter – it’s a beautiful way to connect. Don't forget to try a traditional coffee ceremony, where the beans are roasted and brewed right in front of you. It's a ritual, not just a drink! Walking through Merkato, one of Africa’s largest open-air markets, was an adventure. The sights, sounds, and smells are overwhelming in the best way possible. You can find everything from spices and traditional clothing to handicrafts. It's a true snapshot of daily life in Addis. So, while the 'Egyptian text' might be a fun meme, if you're truly interested in ancient cultures, unique traditions, and a city that truly pulsates with life, Addis Ababa is an absolute must-visit. It's an East African gem that offers so much more than what you might see online. Come experience the real history, the real flavors, and the real magic of Ethiopia!
