እኔ እራሴ / MY OWN SELF

💢 MY OWN SELF

I thought...

That I guard myself,

That I sustain myself by my own effort...

But...

As days passed and the matter became clear to me,

I realized I am costly, bought with blood,

I belong to Christ, I am not even my own.

... Read moreLiving with the awareness that we are 'not our own' fundamentally changes how we view ourselves and our daily lives. When I first encountered the verse from 1 Corinthians 6:19-20—"You are not your own, for you were bought with a price"—it challenged my perception of independence and self-sufficiency. It took time for me to grasp that my identity is intertwined with a higher purpose and ownership. This realization brought both humility and freedom. Instead of striving alone to protect and sustain myself, I began to understand that my life has value because of what was sacrificed for me. This truth helped me release burdens of self-centered control and opened me to a spiritual transformation rooted in gratitude and responsibility. Embracing this scripture means recognizing that our bodies and lives are to glorify God, as emphasized in the accompanying OCR text: "So glorify God in your body." This perspective encourages a holistic approach to self-care—not solely for personal benefit but as a form of honoring the divine sacrifice. It influences choices from lifestyle to relationships, calling us to respect ourselves and others in a deeper way. Personally, reflecting on this passage gave me a renewed sense of purpose. I moved from seeing myself as isolated and self-guarded to living as part of a greater spiritual community. It also helped me in moments of struggle to remember that my worth is not earned but given through love. For anyone wrestling with identity, value, or purpose, meditating on this scripture and the idea of being "bought with a price" can be transformative. It invites us to deeper faith and a more intentional life that glorifies God and acknowledges our place within His plan.
