Sometimes clients surprise you with requests for characters you've never heard of, like those from Five Nights at Freddy’s, which I hadn’t encountered before making themed cupcakes recently. It’s always a rewarding challenge to research these characters and bring them to life using edible materials. One of my favorite parts of cake decorating is making fondant bows—something I hadn’t done in a while but rediscovered my passion for. These bows add an elegant touch to cakes, especially for special occasions. For example, I crafted a bow on a cake for a two-year-old named Luisa, themed around the animated series "Masha and the Bear". Balancing intricate decorations without overloading the design takes patience, but it’s fulfilling to see the final cute and thoughtful result. I also enjoy photographing my creations because it helps me appreciate the details and share inspiration with others. Recently, I made a cake inspired by a sporty theme and another for someone moving to Japan. These projects show how adaptable cake decoration can be to different stories and personalities. If you’re interested in starting with character cakes or fondant decorations, my advice is to begin with simple shapes and popular characters you’re familiar with, then gradually experiment with more complex designs. It’s also helpful to stay updated on cartoons and trends to meet customer expectations creatively. Most importantly, have fun with it—baking and decorating are as much about expressing joy as they are about skill.
