⚠️ Police Are Warning Women About This Rideshare Risk!

Two women thought they were getting into their Uber—but the car wasn’t the one shown in the app. They got in anyway… and were victims of S.A.

This is what you need to know:

👉🏼 Always confirm the license plate, make, and model before getting in.

👉🏼 Ask the driver “Who are you picking up?” And “what’s your name?”

👉🏼 If it doesn’t feel right or ANYTHING doesn’t match… don’t get in. Trust your gut.

Knowing this information can protect you from a dangerous situation, and it can save your life.

Please share this with every woman you love. And if someone sent this to you, pay it forward and send it to another woman. This information needs to spread far and wide!

... Read moreRideshare services like Uber and Lyft have revolutionized how we travel, but they also require passengers, especially women, to be vigilant about safety. One of the most important steps before entering any rideshare vehicle is to verify the driver's details exactly as displayed in the app. This includes checking the license plate, make, model, and even the driver's photo. Trusting your instincts plays a key role—if anything feels off, do not get in. Additionally, always communicate with someone you trust by sharing your ride details and live location, so they know where you are at all times. Keep your phone fully charged in case you need to make an emergency call or navigate through unexpected situations. Asking the driver questions like “Who are you picking up?” or “What’s your name?” can also help confirm you are getting into the correct vehicle. Avoid complacency by staying aware of your surroundings and situational awareness. This means being alert to any suspicious behavior around you and understanding standard safety protocols when using rideshares. Carrying personal protection devices can provide an extra layer of security, but prevention and awareness are always better strategies. Sharing these safety tips broadly can help protect others in your network. The rise in incidents such as women being picked up by the wrong vehicle underscores the urgent need for community education about rideshare safety. By following these guidelines, you can significantly reduce your risk and travel more confidently. Remember, safety is about being informed, prepared, and alert at all times while using rideshare services.

Another note DONT sit directly behind Driver. It makes some of us a little bit nervous. It’s good to be careful but not paranoid.

as an Uber Driver, I agree with everything you’re saying now all you need to do is get UBER to understand to put the correct license plate number. I have a disabled placard on my license plate with numbers after it. Simply a picture of a wheelchair with numbers UBER puts my license plate is DP… most people notice that they say it’s not the same license plate number when I can explain to them that it stands for disability placard they say oh OK so you might need to point that out to people also also there has been real Uber drivers who have been arrested for costing young females so it’s not always the ones who are pretending to be drivers some of these sick bozos out here actually dothank you for sharing though I appreciate it. I’m a retired sheriff deputy and I can tell you you’re doing your service to your community
