I used to think making birria was this super complicated, all-day affair, but these little flavor packets have made it so incredibly easy and accessible. If you're looking for an 'ez bomb' solution to elevate your meals, you've hit the jackpot.
First off, let's talk about the classic: Birria Tacos. This is where these bombs truly shine. My preferred cut of meat is a chuck roast or beef short ribs – they get incredibly tender and absorb all that rich flavor. Here’s my go-to process using one of these birria bombs, essentially a simplified 'birria bombs recipe':
Sear the Meat: I start by searing my beef chunks in a hot pot until they’re nicely browned on all sides. This adds so much depth of flavor.
Add the Bomb: Then, I drop in one of these amazing birria bombs along with about 4-6 cups of water (depending on how much broth I want). Sometimes I add a quartered onion and a few garlic cloves too, just for extra aromatics.
Slow Cook Magic: I usually use my slow cooker on low for 6-8 hours, or my Instant Pot for about 45-60 minutes on high pressure with a natural release. The house smells incredible as it cooks!
Shred & Serve: Once the meat is fall-apart tender, I shred it directly in the rich broth. Now for the fun part: making cheesy birria tacos! I dip corn tortillas into the oily top layer of the consommé, fill them with shredded birria meat and a generous sprinkle of Oaxaca or Monterey Jack cheese, then griddle them until crispy and the cheese is melted. Don't forget to serve with a small cup of the consommé for dipping, often garnished with fresh cilantro and diced white onion. It's pure bliss!
But wait, there's more! The OCR even showed a picture of birria ramen, and let me tell you, that's another fantastic way I've been using these bombs for a quick and satisfying meal. If you're a fan of instant noodles, this will blow your mind:
Cook Your Ramen: Prepare your favorite instant ramen (I love using Tapatio ramen for an extra kick, as seen in the images!) according to package directions, but use less of the seasoning packet, or none at all, depending on your preference.
Add Birria Broth & Meat: Instead of plain water, I use some of the flavorful birria consommé from my slow-cooked batch. Then, I top the ramen with some of the tender birria meat. The combination is just divine.
Garnish: A sprinkle of fresh cilantro, some thinly sliced green onions, and maybe a dash of hot sauce truly completes this elevated ramen experience. It’s comforting, hearty, and packed with an incredible depth of flavor.
These birria bombs truly make it 'ez' to enjoy complex, rich Mexican dishes right at home. Whether it's for a cozy taco night or a quick, flavorful ramen fix, they deliver authentic taste without the fuss. If you're like me and appreciate convenience without compromising on flavor, these are an absolute must-try for your kitchen!
Welcome! Can’t wait to see more from you in the future💛
