Want clean, professional audio for your streams, narrations, or character voiceovers? Here’s how I set up my FX chain in Reaper to smooth out dynamics, prevent clipping, and keep my voice warm and consistent.

🔹 **Step 1: ReaEQ – Clean Up & Clarify**

Start with a high-pass filter at **70–80 Hz** to remove low-end rumble (like mic bumps or room noise).

Optionally boost **3–5 kHz** for clarity — this helps your voice cut through music or background sounds without sounding harsh.

🔹 **Step 2: ReaComp – Smooth Dynamics**

Compression keeps your voice consistent and prevents sudden loudness from startling listeners.

I use:

- **Threshold: –22.5 dB**

- **Ratio: 3.7:1**

- **Attack: 18.5 ms** (lets natural transients through)

- **Release: 120 ms** (smooth recovery)

- **Makeup Gain: +11.5 dB**

This setup gently controls peaks while preserving emotion and nuance — perfect for storytelling or expressive character lines.

🔹 **Step 3: ReaLimit – Prevent Clipping**

A limiter catches any final peaks that sneak past the compressor.

I set:

- **Ceiling: –1.0 dB**

- **Release: 50 dB/sec**

- **True Peak: ON**

- **Performance: High Quality**

-**Make sure to uncheck”Constant Gain” as this will cause your audio to clip and sound unstable.

This ensures your audio never clips, even during screams or energetic moments — ideal for character work and livestreams.
