Half Marathon Week Plan
Start my training days Wednesday evenings to give myself time to recover from my long runs, & to do the bulk of my work Mondays-Wednesdays.
It was recommended by my boyfriend to focus more on strength training (using more weights & do more core exercises) & sprints to get faster mile times. Trying to incorporate more HIIT workouts to push my endurance more also. So I’m gonna end up prioritizing the Speed Runs from the Nike training plan - and let my recovery runs be shorter distances at the beginning/end of my strength training sessions. Of course going to continue to do all of the long runs on Sundays.
I’m super excited to see my progress & hopefully I surprise myself with my times once race day comes.

Preparing for a half marathon requires a well-structured training plan that emphasizes various components of fitness. A typical week may involve running long distances, incorporating strength training, and including high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to build endurance. To enhance speed, many runners benefit from sprint workouts that improve mile times significantly. A balance between longer recovery runs and intense speed sessions can be crucial. Moreover, weight training and core exercises help in building strength, which is essential for maintaining proper running form and preventing injuries. Incorporating these elements into your routine can greatly enhance your overall running experience. It's vital to listen to your body and allow adequate time for recovery, particularly after long runs. Adjusting training intensity and duration based on how you feel can lead to better results. Including rest days and lighter running sessions within a training regimen is essential for sustainability and progression. Many runners love tracking their progress, setting personal records, and sharing their journeys, which can provide immense motivation. Strategies that intertwine strength, speed, and recuperation are vital in crafting a successful half marathon training plan.
