You Don’t Have To Choose!

You can be present for your kids and still build something for yourself. I used to think I had to pick one, either be there fully for them or put time into something for me.

But I realised it’s not about choosing, it’s about using the small pockets of time in between. After they sleep, when things quiet down, just a little bit for yourself.

It may not feel like a lot at first, but those small moments add up. You’re allowed to care for your family and still grow something of your own, slowly, quietly.

What’s one small thing you can start today, just for you?

... Read moreFinding balance between family responsibilities and personal ambition can feel overwhelming, especially for parents striving to be there for their kids while nurturing their own goals. From my own experience, the key lies in embracing the small but consistent moments available throughout the day. Once my children were asleep, I began dedicating just 15 to 20 minutes to activities that mattered to me—whether it was jotting down ideas for a side project, reading to enhance my skills, or simply reflecting on personal growth. These small steps, though seemingly insignificant alone, compound over weeks and months, leading to meaningful progress without sacrificing time with family. It’s essential to let go of the notion that devotion to children means abandoning self-care or personal development. Instead, it’s about mindful time management and setting realistic expectations. Incorporating habits like "small steps daily" and prioritizing "consistency" created a rhythm that felt sustainable. Working mums and those dabbling in digital business can especially benefit by leveraging quieter periods in their day, like after bedtime or early mornings, to pursue passions. The balance is not about choosing one over the other but integrating both worlds thoughtfully. Moreover, embracing communities or forums of like-minded individuals (such as #workingmums or #mumswhobuild) provides encouragement and collective wisdom. Sharing experiences can highlight creative ways to grow a digital business or hobby while being present for family. Ultimately, the journey is personal and non-linear. The realization that "You Don't Have To Choose!" empowers parents to redefine success on their own terms. What small, consistent step could you start today to honor both your family and your ambitions?

Choosing between work and your child?
Today reminded me again why I started this journey. I was halfway through work when I got a call from school… my little one is down with cough, flu and fever. In that moment, nothing else mattered except being there for him. But as a working mum, it’s never that simple, right? There are
