Jude Duarte is my queen

As a massive fan of the #thecruelprinceseries and all things #romantasy, I absolutely have to talk about Jude Duarte. For me, she isn't just the main character; she's the queen of Faerie, hands down. When I first picked up one of Holly Black's books, I knew I was in for a treat, but Jude truly stole my heart and became an instant favorite #book character. What truly makes Jude Duarte so captivating? It’s her unwavering spirit and ambition in a world that constantly tries to diminish her. Here’s a human girl, thrust into the dangerous, enchanting, and often cruel world of the fey, and instead of crumbling, she decides to play their game – and win. She's not born into power like the princes and princesses of Faerie, but she earns it through sheer grit and cunning. This journey from being an outsider, often bossed around and underestimated, to becoming a formidable political player is what makes her arc so compelling. She truly embodies the spirit of a survivor who refuses to be a victim. Her relationships are equally complex and fascinating, especially with Madoc, her adoptive father and, as the story reveals, the murderer of her biological parents. This tangled family dynamic, where she's raised by the very person who took her parents' lives, creates a constant internal struggle. You see glimpses of this intense bond and betrayal throughout her story, like when she recalls moments with Madoc and Oriana. It’s part of what fuels her drive and suspicion. And then there's the iconic #enemiestolovers dynamic with Cardan, the High King. Their push-and-pull, the power struggles, and the unexpected tenderness make their story utterly addictive. She isn't just strong because she can wield a sword; she's strong because she's intelligent, adaptable, and fiercely protective. She embraces her humanity as both a weakness and a unique advantage in a world of immortals. For anyone who loves a protagonist who fights for her place, challenges conventions, and never gives up, Jude from The Cruel Prince is absolutely the character to root for.
