Bolt your way through BKK 🙏 Grab 25% off rides 😱

During my first few days in BKK, I made a rookie mistake 😅 Thought Grab was the go-to app for rides, so I happily booked one from the airport to my Airbnb. Guess how much? A whopping 262 baht 🥲

A few days later, my friend (who’s basically a Bangkok pro) casually dropped the biggest travel hack on me: Bolt. 🚖💨

It works just like Grab — same ride-hailing, same convenience — BUT the prices are usually 20–30% cheaper. I did a quick check and nearly cried… the exact same route from the airport to my Airbnb on Bolt was only 185 baht. That’s a 77 baht difference (~$3.40) for the same ride! 🫠

Moral of the story: if you’re visiting Thailand, don’t just stick to Grab — download Bolt and thank me later 💛

Many travelers don’t realize that Grab rides can be substantially pricier when starting from Suvarnabhumi Airport or Don Mueang International Airport. The Bolt app is straightforward and user-friendly, making it easy to switch without losing convenience. I found that Bolt’s pickup points at the Bangkok airport are well-marked, usually near Grab’s designated areas, which makes the transition smooth. Using Bolt also means fewer surge pricing surprises during peak hours or bad weather, which can inflate costs on Grab. Another tip is to apply available Bolt vouchers or promo codes to get even deeper discounts — sometimes up to 25% off, as I did on my ride. Besides standard cars, Bolt offers two-wheel rides, which are perfect for solo travelers looking to zip through Bangkok’s traffic economically. If you're planning trips beyond Bangkok, like Phuket, Bolt often provides competitive rates, making it a great choice throughout Thailand. Remember, the SVB code you see refers to services at Suvarnabhumi Airport, so knowing these pickup points can speed up your ride request. Switching to Bolt saved me a good chunk of cash, which I happily spent on street food and sightseeing. I highly recommend downloading Bolt before your Thailand trip to enjoy budget-friendly and efficient rides across the city!

Tuk-tuks are one of those things you have to try when you’re in Bangkok. They’re colourful, fast, chaotic, and honestly… kind of thrilling. They definitely aren't the cheapest way around but we would still recommend AT LEAST once for the vibes 🥳 Some things we learnt after being in Bangkok
