Hey everyone! Since my initial intro was a little quick, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into some of the identities I mentioned, especially for those of you who might be searching for 'pan therian' or related terms. It's truly a journey of self-discovery, and I'm still figuring things out, but I'm excited to share what I know so far and connect with others. When I mentioned being 'pan,' I was referring to pansexuality or panromanticism – basically, my attraction isn't limited by gender. For me, it means I'm open to loving and connecting with people for who they are, regardless of their gender identity. It’s about seeing beyond labels and appreciating the person. This fluidity in attraction feels very natural to me, and it's something I've come to embrace as part of my authentic self. Then there’s the 'therian' aspect. For those unfamiliar, being a therian means identifying as a non-human animal on a spiritual or psychological level. It's not a choice, but an intrinsic part of who I am. For me, it's a deep, instinctual connection to a specific animal, manifesting in shifts, instincts, and a deep sense of belonging to the natural world. It’s a core part of my identity, influencing how I perceive the world and myself. So, how do 'pan' and 'therian' intersect? For me, they’re both facets of my identity that involve a lot of introspection and understanding of self. Both identities challenge conventional norms and encourage a deeper look at what feels authentic to me. I’ve found that the journey of understanding my pan identity often parallels the journey of understanding my therian identity – both require acceptance, self-love, and finding community. There isn't necessarily a direct link, but the process of self-discovery and accepting these different aspects of myself feels connected. It's about living authentically in every sense. I also mentioned being 'otherhearted' and 'otherlinked.' These terms often come up in the therian/otherkin community. 'Otherhearted' means feeling a strong, deep, spiritual connection to an animal, but not identifying as it. It's like having a soul bond or a very deep empathy. 'Otherlinked' is similar but often describes a strong, sometimes spiritual, connection to a fictional or mythical being. While I identify as a therian for my animalistic nature, I also have these strong connections to other beings that resonate deeply with me, adding more layers to my identity. And yes, I'm also part of the 'kemonomimi community'! This is where people enjoy and sometimes portray human characters with animal features like ears and tails. For me, it's a fun way to express my animalistic side in a more whimsical, creative way, and connect with others who appreciate similar aesthetics. It's a joyful expression of my inner animal. It's okay to be in a phase of 'idk yet,' as I mentioned in my intro. Identity is fluid and constantly evolving, and it's a beautiful thing to explore.
