In Memoriam
In June 2016 the most amazing little furball came into our lives. Griffin Tiernan was my joy, my anchor, and a life raft when I was dealing with the aftermath of severe PTSD and anxiety. We had 10 wonderful years with him and then last year on this date we lost him to health complications. He was the best dog in the world and I hope his passage to the rainbow bridge was a happy one. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t miss him. I love you, Griffey.#losingyourdog #dog #rescue
Losing a pet like Griffin Tiernan is one of the most profound emotional experiences anyone can face, especially when that companion has played a crucial role in healing and emotional support. From my personal experience, having a rescue dog who understands your struggles can be a true lifeline. Dogs have an uncanny ability to sense our moods and offer unconditional love when we need it most. Griffin’s story reminds me of how pets can help manage anxiety and PTSD symptoms by providing routine, comfort, and a non-judgmental presence. During hard days, spending time with your dog can ground you and bring moments of peace amidst turmoil. I found that simple activities like daily walks, playtime, or just sitting quietly together helped me reconnect with the world around me. When a companion passes, it’s natural to grieve deeply. Honoring their memory through sharing stories, creating small rituals, or even engaging in support groups like #losingyourdog can be therapeutic. It keeps their spirit alive and helps you process the loss. Griffin’s journey to the rainbow bridge, as mentioned, is a comforting way to think of their peaceful rest. For those who have rescued dogs, the bond often takes on a special meaning because it’s built on second chances and healing—not just for the dog, but for the owner too. Reflecting on those beautiful years together, as MidnightES did, inspires hope for anyone facing the pain of losing a furry family member. It also highlights the importance of adopting rescue pets who may become indispensable parts of our emotional resilience and happiness.
