🖤Kindle Oasis: Is It Still Worth It In 2024?🖤
If you're anything like me, getting a kindle has been a game changer for you. Or if you are wondering if you should get a kindle, the answer is absolutely YES. 📖
There are several different kindle models and I have owned both the Kindle Paperwhite Signature and the Kindle Oasis. I ended up retiring my Kindle Paperwhite and trading it for the Kindle Oasis.
Here is why:
1) The Oasis is more aesthetically pleasing (in my humble opinion).
2) The Oasis has buttons for page turning. (This was the selling point for me).
3) The Oasis feels more natural in my hand when I am reading.
4) The Oasis seems to lag less than the Paperwhite.
Now moving onto my opinion on if the Oasis is STILL worth buying in 2024. To be honest, NO. This is because Amazon is set to release a new Kindle model in 2025, and the Oasis is extremely expensive and no longer in production by Amazon. I love my Kindle Oasis, but if you are looking to buy an Oasis I suggest waiting out for the release. 🖤

You've likely read my initial thoughts on the Kindle Oasis and my recommendation to hold off on buying a brand new one in 2024, especially with a new model rumored for 2025. However, the question of whether the Kindle Oasis is still worth it is more nuanced than a simple yes or no, particularly for those who prioritize specific features. Let's delve a bit deeper into why this device still captures hearts and what to consider if you're weighing your options right now. One of the most talked-about features is its 7-inch screen. While the Kindle Paperwhite offers a respectable 6.8 inches, that slight difference on the Oasis truly enhances the reading experience for many. For me, it makes reading graphic novels or PDFs a much more comfortable endeavor, reducing the need to zoom or scroll as frequently. When I'm engrossed in a book like 'Circe' by Madeline Miller, that extra screen real estate allows for more text per page, leading to fewer page turns and a more fluid reading flow. The larger screen also contributes to the premium feel, making it feel less like a gadget and more like a book in hand. This is often where the "6 or 7 inch Kindle" debate comes to a head – it really boils down to personal preference for screen size and how much you value that slightly larger display for various content types. Beyond the screen, those physical page-turn buttons are a game-changer. This was a primary reason I switched from my Paperwhite. There's something incredibly satisfying and intuitive about clicking a button to advance a page, especially when reading one-handed. It replicates the tactile experience of turning a physical book page, which a touchscreen simply can't match. This ergonomic design, coupled with its lightweight build and the way it sits naturally in your hand (as I mentioned in my main post), truly sets the Oasis apart. I even customized mine with a fun case and a 'coffin-shaped pop socket' on the back, making it uniquely 'mine' and even more comfortable for long reading sessions. So, is the Kindle Oasis worth it in 2024? If you find a good deal on a used model, or if the physical buttons and unique ergonomic design are non-negotiable for your reading style, then perhaps. However, for most, buying a new one at full price right now is a tough sell. Amazon has discontinued its production, which raises questions about future software updates and long-term support. You're essentially paying a premium for technology that is aging, knowing that a potentially more advanced model is on the horizon. If you're looking for an alternative before the 2025 release, the Kindle Paperwhite remains an excellent choice. It offers a great screen, waterproofing, and a warm light feature at a more accessible price point. While it lacks the physical buttons and the Oasis's specific aesthetic, it provides an exceptional reading experience for the vast majority of readers, and it directly competes with the Oasis in many areas. Both devices offer seamless integration with Kindle Unlimited, giving you access to a vast library of books. My advice remains to wait if you can. The anticipation for a new Kindle model in 2025 is real, and it's likely to incorporate updated technology and potentially new features that will make it a more future-proof investment. But for those who cherish the 7-inch screen and the tactile satisfaction of physical buttons, the Kindle Oasis, even in 2024, holds a special place, provided you manage your expectations about its longevity and price point.
