Songs For My Girlfriend
The first night we kissed 🥰
Closer to Fine: The Indigo Girls.
One of my first encounters after a breakup. Neither of us were looking for anything. But this felt like such a good step in the right direction. It wasn’t pressured (on my side 🤣). It felt right and perfect.
This was something different and new and casual and fun!

Creating a special playlist for my girlfriend is one of my favorite ways to show her how much I care. It’s more than just a collection of songs; it’s a living, breathing timeline of our relationship, filled with memories, inside jokes, and all the feelings we share. While our first kiss song, 'Closer to Fine' by the Indigo Girls, will always hold a top spot, I've learned that a truly great 'playlist for girlfriend' needs to evolve and cover all the beautiful facets of your shared life. After that initial spark, like the one we shared at an outdoor event similar to the pictures I have, I started thinking about all the other moments we'd want to soundtrack. What songs make her smile when she's having a tough day? What tunes get us dancing around the kitchen? What's the perfect background music for a cozy night in, just embracing closely on the couch? It’s all about tailoring it to your unique connection. Here are some categories I use to keep my girlfriend's playlist fresh and meaningful, along with a few personal recommendations: The "Just Because I Love You" Ballads: These are the classic, heartfelt songs that say, 'I adore you.' Think timeless love songs that make you want to slow dance in the living room. My picks: "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley, "At Last" by Etta James, or a modern classic like "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. Uplifting & Fun Anthems: For those days when you need a little pick-me-up or just want to feel the joy of being together. These are our road trip singalongs and morning dance party starters! Try: "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina & The Waves, "Good Day Sunshine" by The Beatles, or "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by The Beach Boys. Shared Adventure Tunes: We love exploring, whether it's a new hiking trail or trying a new restaurant. These songs remind us of those adventures. For us, that might include songs we heard at Campit Outdoor Resort Saugatuck or on a scenic drive. Examples: "Home" by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, "Riptide" by Vance Joy, or "Ophelia" by The Lumineers. Comfort & Cuddle Songs: When all you want to do is snuggle up and feel safe and loved. These are often acoustic, gentle, and warm. My favorites: "The Girl" by City and Colour, "I Will Follow You Into The Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie, or "Northern Sky" by Nick Drake. When I'm putting together a new section for our playlist, I think about specific memories. "Oh, this song reminds me of that laugh we shared at the outdoor festival!" or "This one feels just like when we were embracing closely by the campfire." Sometimes, I'll even add little voice notes in between songs on Spotify, just for her, sharing why I picked that particular track or recalling a funny moment associated with it. It makes the playlist so much more intimate and personal. Don't be afraid to mix genres! The best 'playlist for girlfriend' reflects both of your tastes and the journey you're on together. It's an ongoing project, a musical diary of your love. So, go ahead, start curating your own and watch her face light up!
