Songs for my Girlfriend Pt.5

My turn to drive 7.5 hours to see my beautiful girlfriend for her birthday!

Until I found you: Stephen Sanchez

I would definitely say I am empathetic… but also I ignore those feelings very well. I am more of a let you have your feelings person… I’ll just be over here 😅 but something I realized with Tristan is that I want to feel her feelings too. I want to make her happy and be there for her in anyway I can. I wasn’t there for her actual birthday but I did send her flowers! When I did get to see her I also got to tag along on one of her gigs! I sat back and listened to her band play and enjoyed my time being with her.. while being off to the side. I wasn’t upset we weren’t hanging out because I know that performing is something she adores. It is amazing getting to see the person you love enjoy their passion!

It’s more than just sharing music; it’s about sharing feelings, memories, and even dreams when we can't be together. After seeing how much 'Until I Found You' by Stephen Sanchez resonated with my feelings, I started thinking about other tracks that perfectly capture what it's like to be in a long-distance relationship and to love someone so deeply. When I'm curating a 'songs for my girlfriend' playlist, I always look for lyrics that speak to commitment, missing someone, and the sheer joy of reunion. For instance, 'Can't Help Falling in Love' (Elvis Presley or a beautiful cover) is a timeless classic that expresses that undeniable pull you feel. It reminds me of those moments captured in a sweet mirror selfie, where all that matters is being in each other's arms, even if just for a fleeting visit after a long drive. Another one I love adding is 'Adore You' by Harry Styles. It’s just so full of light and adoration, which perfectly describes how I feel when I get to see my girl smile. Those playful selfies we take, sticking out our tongues, are exactly the kind of pure happiness that song evokes. For those tough days in a long-distance relationship, I often lean into songs that acknowledge the struggle but celebrate the strength of our bond. 'A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri is a beautiful anthem for enduring love, perfect for anyone wondering how to get closer to my girlfriend when distance is a factor. It’s about waiting and knowing the journey is worth it. And sometimes, after that long 7.5-hour drive, finally seeing her and sharing a loving moment, whether it's a kiss on the cheek or on the lips, just makes everything make sense. It’s those moments that I try to capture in my music choices. Beyond just adding songs, I’ve found that sharing these playlists can be a powerful way to communicate. I love sending a new 'playlist for her' with a little note explaining why each song made me think of her or us. It's a way to feel connected even when we’re apart. It’s like sending a musical hug or a whispered 'I love you' across the miles. It's not just about finding the best songs for my girlfriend, but really about making a collection that tells our story. If you're looking for music for your girlfriend, don't just pick popular love songs. Think about your shared experiences, her favorite genres, and what you want her to feel. Does she love indie, pop, or something more classic? Tailoring it makes it so much more personal. I always try to include a mix – some upbeat tracks for when she needs a pick-me-up, and some soulful ones for quiet evenings. It’s truly about creating a soundtrack to your unique love story, something she can listen to and instantly feel your presence, even when you're just a voice on the phone. This isn't just a collection of 'songs to post my girlfriend' on social media; it’s a living, breathing testament to our bond. What songs remind you of your girlfriend?
